Loving kindness Meditation

On my walk yesterday, I stopped and sat down on a newly installed memorial bench. This amazing peace filled me at the incredible, beautiful, pond and vast sky in front of me. I felt called to practice a loving kindness meditation. I believe in the power of prayer, meditation, and sending positive energy out into the world from my heart to all beings.

I find this mediation to be quite healing and profound. There are many versions. Feel free to add your own words of wisdom and make it your own.

I find a peaceful place where I can sit up tall. Close my eyes. Relax into the moment and take a few deep breaths and I begin.

"May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be free. May I be free from suffering, free from fear, truly, truly, free. May I be compassionate. May I awaken to the light of my true nature. May I be at peace. May I be filled with loving kindness."

First, you start with sending loving kindness to yourself. Next, visualize someone you love standing in front of you and repeat the phrases with their name. Then, visualize someone you have a conflict or a grudge with, standing in front of you, and you say the prayer of loving kindness with their name. Now visualize someone you do not know, but perhaps they work at the local grocery store where you shop. Send out the loving kindness meditation envisioning them standing in front of you.

Finally, you send the loving kindness out to all beings.

"May all beings be happy. May all beings be healthy. May all beings be free. May all beings be free from suffering, free from fear, truly, truly, free. May all beings be compassionate. May all beings awaken to the light of their true nature. May all beings be at peace. May all beings be filled with loving kindness."
