Earth Day: Gratitude

The earth remembers me.

I am not becoming--

I am belonging.

Today I walk the path. It is curved the way life curves without explanation. With the sun in my face, trees waking, water reflecting light back to the sky without effort. The earth is not something I visit or celebrate for one day only...She is a powerful loving force I belong to always in all ways.

As I witness all of her glorious returning, green rising, branches broadening and softening, life is remembering itself every spring. Walk gently with reverence on her sacred paths. The ground beneath us carries more than just our steps. She nourishes us in every way.

The light is shining everywhere today...in the new leaves, in the water, in me and in you. Go outside, close your eyes, let the light land. Breathe in her air and thank her for life.

Mother Earth takes care of us and she was there for our beginning and she is here for the returning. She does not rush the blooming. She opens in her own time in perfect harmony, bud by bud, breath by breath. And something ancient in me knows I am invited and allowed to do the same. Take care of her as you take care of yourselves.

I breathe with her.

I listen.

I belong.

Nothing is missing. Even if it has not opened yet it is already held in her love. Notice the light -- how if finds you without asking permission or waiting for you to be ready. Abide here for a moment or several...in what has already been given, and in what is already great. Today we do not have to belong...we already do. And so it is. And so it has returned.

Aho

Amen
