Wake Up and Smell the Roses

Or when your name is Rose...perhaps you could wake up and smell the dandelions. Dandelions are nourishment to some and are filled with many health benefits or some see them as weeds. Things aren't always what they seem or what you were taught to believe. Take a new look.

We can learn from our beloved dogs to take in the beauty of the morning. As soon as she wakes up, Rose stretches into a downward facing dog pose and then an upward facing dog. She shakes out her entire body...releasing and letting go. She is always in the present moment and is excited to be up for the day and to see what life has to offer her outside. Wake up and look at life in a new way today from a new perspective.

Get excited and be grateful you woke up! Breathe in deeply and exhale....aaahhhhhh. Maybe do a few stretches before you get out of bed in the morning while you are still in a dream state. Draw your right knee into your chest and straighten your left leg and breathe. Bring the right knee across your body to the left and take a look over your right shoulder doing a supine body twist...and breathe. Bring your head back to center and draw both knees into your chest, giving yourself a hug and extend the right leg down and hug the left knee into your chest. Gently drawing the left knee across your body and looking over the left shoulder...and breathe.

Take a moment and set an intention for your day. What do you want to happen today? Energy follows intention. Say a little prayer, "I am willing to experience the glory of a new day. I am ready and willing to experience good news today. I am willing to experience miracles. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Sit on the edge of your bed for a moment and notice which foot hits the floor first. The right foot you are ready to get things done today. Place your left foot down and maybe you need to be creative today. Step out with both feet on the ground and find a balance between the doing and the being in your day. Maybe drop down into a prayer squat. Bring your hands together at your heart, inhale, press palms into each other while simultaneously pressing elbows against the inside of your knees, exhale and release. Take a few breaths here and begin your day in a new way.

Wake up and smell a new beginning. Namaste.
