Listening from the Inside Out

Listening from the silence inside out has served me well throughout my life. It drives some people close to me crazy. Crazy that I don't jump in and speak up right away or act before I have time to assess any given situation. Silence, like snow, is not empty or wasted time. It is a place where I have learned to gather my voice.
My husband jumps right into action...oftentimes acting and speaking before he has time to pause. We live together in the harmony between the pause and the action. He has always been a bit afraid that if he is having a heart attack or is experiencing a medical emergency, I won't call the ambulance fast enough. Rest assured, I shall get him any care he might need.
Pausing before I speak or write moves me from my interior world to the exterior. It allows my silence to form into language that illuminates and is helpful. Learning to live in the pause enables me to choose words that have been sorted with care, attention, intention, and memory.
The pause invites my feelings to form not with authority or any doctrine, but through intimacy, presence, and witnessing life as it unfolds organically. I am a writer who gets to the heart of the matter and I trust the wisdom of my heart. She has served me well always and in all ways.
My heart and soul speak through my voice with a certain unique rhythm. A voice that has been shaped by love, loss, time, and navigating family dynamics. All of which flow through my extremely tender heart and reflective mind.
I use imagery, symbolism and have always preferred deeper meaning over argument. I have never been a surface dweller.
Truth arrives through my presence with love and not through persuasion.
Love is a doorway
through which
understanding
can enter.
Rest your head
close to your heart
and listen
dear one
in the liminal space
across the
threshold.
Soften.
Feel the truth.
Abide in love.
Trust the silence
and
tenderness
within.
The light
does
not hurry.
It arrives
with
illumination.
The heart
knows
before
the mind
ever will.
Stand in
your
knowing.
Experience
it
from the
inside
out.
Dwell
in the silence.
Be like
the snow.
Pause
in
its
light
and know
nothing
needs
to happen
now.
Pause
in
the
silence
and
let it
sit
longer
than
feels
productive.
If you feel
restless,
pause
a
wee
bit
longer.
Learn to
remain
in the
pause
between
2
breaths.
You
are
practicing
TRUST.
No need to
rush.
Silence
is
never
wasted...
it is
where
your voice
gathers
love
and
light.
