Yoga Practice: Is a Beautiful Gift to Self

Yoga practice is a beautiful gift you give to yourself. You honor yourself by showing up on your mat. You are saying, "Yes" daily, weekly, monthly, to being at home with your body. A bow to what remains within, without, as above, and so below.

Hand on heart,

"May I arrive on this mat,

in this moment,

for what yoga

softens,

strengthens,

unfolds,

and

reveals to me.

I allow the light

within me

to arrive

and

shine

quietly.

(As Rosie is my witness.)

Yoga, is unforced nourishment that quietly shapes what safely unfolds during my practice. I am able to slow down, breathe, and gently move in order for insights to arise.

Yoga is a structure that builds strength, flexibility, and calm for my inner world to match my outer climate. Yoga helps me stand in this life and navigate the journey.

Yoga gives back as a companionship in embodying body, breath, and devotion without demanding anything except my presence. It is a way to return to my whole self unmasked. I am not striving. I am not fixing. I am melting myself on the mat to a place where life meets me as I am. I am that I am.

A listening occurs within each posture. A remembering from each breath. An allowing of the light to land within my body as it travels on the breath of each inhalation and each exhalation.

Yoga is a place where my spirit meets my flesh and embraces me embodied and anchored in truth. Yoga stays with me on long days. Yoga stays with me on short days and it is enough. On days where I do not practice, yoga waits patiently for my return. I begin again. Yoga is a practice. Every day it is different.

Yoga is a practice that yokes together mind, body, and spirit. Yoga has been a lantern that glows softly in the darkness and has shown me the way to the next step. I do not need to see the entire path.

It has taught me how to peel back the layers and inhabit what already glows within. I am held in the moment where I am in the silence, the truth, and anchored in breath.

I place my hand on my heart and feel the warmth and guidance that lives within. I drop my shoulders. I pause. I bow my head. I am here.

I inhale peace and I exhale gratitude.

Namaste, Angela
